Happy Mother's Day

"She is clothed with strength and dignity;

she can laugh at the days to come.

She speaks with wisdom,

and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

She watches over the affairs of her household

and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children arise and call her blessed;

her husband also, and he praises her:

“Many women do noble things,

but you surpass them all.”

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;

but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."

Proverbs 31:35-30

"Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him." - Psalms 127:3

Mothers of the Bible:

Eve - The first Mother

Mother of all living things. Eve was the first woman and the first mother. She had no mentor to guide her and show her what to do. She raised her children, and suffered grief when her son Cain murdered Abel. She still went on to help fulfill God's plan of populating the world.

Sarah - Wife of Abraham

Sarah (also known as Sarai) was the wife of Abraham and the mother of Isaac. Sarah was childless until 90 years old. In Genesis 17:16, God promised Abraham that Sarah would be "a mother of nations," and that she would bear a son. This son would be Isaac. Sarah was a matriarch of Israel.

Rebekah - Wife of Isaac.

Like her mother-in-law, Sarah, Rebekah was without child for many years. Isaac prayed for her and she conceived twin boys. These twins were Esau and Jacob. She lived in a place of idolatry and stayed faithful to God.

Jochebed - Mother of Moses

Jochebed showed tremendous faith and courage. She new her son would be killed, so she sent him down the river to be saved by the Pharaoh's daughter. This ensured Moses would have a good life, and Jochebed was even able to nourish him as he grew up as his nurse. God was able to use her son to free the Hebrews because of her bravery.

Elizabeth - Mother of John the Baptist

Barren at an old age, Elizabeth had a miracle pregnancy. After an angel appeared, her son was named, John. She was pregnant the same time as Mary, her relative and the mother of Jesus. Her son would become John the Baptist, the one who baptized our LORD and Savior.

Mary - Mother of Jesus

The most honored Mother in the bible, Mary was the mother of Jesus Christ. She was a young peasant girl engaged to be married. We all know her story from the Christmas season, but imagine how steadfast she was to have faith in the Lord.

Her children rise up and call her blessed. - Proverbs 31:28

These moms were just like moms today, they wanted the best for their children, and they wanted them to succeed. Today we get to celebrate moms. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. We pray you have a wonderful day, and know how blessed you are daily.
